The Remembrance resources for 2024 have been created by Richard Kerridge. Richard used to teach history at secondary schools in Mildenhall and Ipswich before leaving the profession and working for the OCR exam board in Cambridge.

While teaching Richard was lucky enough to have the opportunity to write text books for Cambridge University Press and resources for the Historical Association and AQA (exam board). Richard trained teachers, became a Lead Practitioner and in 2019 the Historical Association made him an Honorary Fellow.

Richard currently lives in Cambridge but was born and grew up very close to the Wisbech General Cemetery. His great, great grandfather (and his wife and some of his children) are buried in the cemetery, he was a Methodist lay-preacher as well as an architect who managed the repairs to the chapel in the late-nineteenth century.

Over the next few years this page will be updated with new resources to encourage teaching about the WGC. There will be lessons about the cemetery and the people buried here that link the big themes of Wisbech’s history to this unique place.

We hope you enjoy these resources, and if you have any ideas or information you want to share with Richard you can get in touch at: friendsofgeneralcemetery24@gmail.com.
